Who should I contact about my neighbor's barking pet?

If your neighbor's barking pet is causing a disturbance, there are a few steps you can take:

Talk to your neighbor: Sometimes, people aren't aware of the problem until it's brought to their attention. A friendly conversation might resolve the issue.

Contact animal control: If the problem persists, you can call Animal Control at 281-999-3191 or the non-emergency police line 713-221-6000 . They can provide guidance on how to handle the situation.

Contact the city's 311 service or visit the City of Houston's website for noise complaint procedures.

Remember to protect the “Four P’s”: People, pets, pipes, and plants.

People:

Keep warm, stay inside if possible.
Check in with elderly family and neighbors to see if the need help.

Pets:

Bring pets inside and move other animals or livestock to sheltered areas.
Keep adequate food and water available.

Pipes:

Protect any exposed outdoor pipes (sprinkler systems should be shut off and properly drained).

Plants:

Bring potted plants inside or store them in a garage near the interior wall to provide extra warmth and protection from wind.
For cold-sensitive outdoor plants, put down extra mulch and consider covering them with a cloth fabric of some kind to shield the plants from wind and frost.
Generator Safety:

If you use a generator, remember these important safety tips from the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Use portable generators outdoors at least 15-20 feet away from all doors, windows, and vent openings to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Never use a generator in an attached garage, even with the door open.

What are the most repetitive violations in our community?

Repetitive violations include:

NOT mowing, edging weeding yards and flower beds and trees.

NOT removing dead landscaping, trimming of trees/shrubs, and fertilizing yards.

NOT cleaning mildew/residue from home.

NOT storing miscellaneous items from public view such as; trash cans, trash bags, and/or kid toys.

NOT removing holiday decorations (after season).

NOT repairing/replacing broken or missing fence pickets.

NOT removing basketball goals out of street and off sidewalk when not in use.

NOT removing trailers, commercial vehicles and inoperable vehicles out of the community.

How to avoid a violation letter?

Crest is contracted to perform one deed restriction inspection per month. The inspection is conducted during business hours and letters are mailed within one business day. A series of letters is sent to the homeowner to notifying them of the violation and providing a timeline for which it should be corrected. After approximately three months, if the violation still exists and arrangements have not been made for a time extension, the Board of Directors will consider taking legal action. The legal process begins with letters from the attorney’s office and could continue to filing a lawsuit.

Please reference the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&Rs) and the Deed Restrictions guidelines to avoid a violation letter.

Owners and residents are strongly encouraged to sign-up to receive email blasts providing timely updates and announcements regarding HOA meetings, security, lost pets, community activities, events, and other valuable information. How do I submit a suggestion or change for our community?

You can voice your suggestion/change at the open forum in our monthly Barkers Crossing HOA Monthly Board of Director's meetings which are held the second Wednesday of each month or by submitting a Contact Us form.
Interested in joining Barkers Crossing HOA board?
There are two ways for a homeowner to join the Board depending the current circumstance.
1. Through assignment: Interested member is assigned by vote of the Board members to fill a vacancy on the Board. The new member serves the remaining term of the vacant position.
2. Through a vote/election: The member fills out a candidate solicitation form and submits their names to be voted in by homeowners during the Annual Meeting in October.
